Strong winds topple arch at finish line for cycling tournament Tour of Borneo

KOTA KINABALU: A few people were hurt when an arch at the finish line of the cycling tournament Tour of Borneo toppled over due to strong winds.

Two of the people hurt (pic above) were technical staff Martin Mansur and his wife, Joan Damianus, who were hit by the falling gantry.

Damianus was seen nursing a bloody wound on her head during the incident. Several passers-by quickly rushed to their aid.

The tournament, which saw participation from 120 cyclists from around the world, including from Spain and Germany, began Saturday and will end Aug 22.

The first lap of the tournament is a 108.7km trek from Kota Kinabalu to Tuaran before proceeding to Kota Belud, Tanjung Aru, Papar, Kundasang and back to the state capital.

The entire journey is almost 700km.

  1. Malang tak berbau...simpati kepada mangsa, mujur kemalangan ini tidak melibatkan kehilangan nyawa. Wallahu'alam.
