Strong winds topple arch at finish line for cycling tournament Tour of Borneo
KOTA KINABALU: A few people were
hurt when an arch at the finish line of the cycling tournament Tour of
Borneo toppled over due to strong winds.
Two of the people hurt (pic above) were technical staff Martin Mansur
and his wife, Joan Damianus, who were hit by the falling gantry.
Damianus was seen nursing a bloody wound on her head during the incident. Several passers-by quickly rushed to their aid.
The tournament, which saw participation from 120 cyclists from around
the world, including from Spain and Germany, began Saturday and will
end Aug 22.
The first lap of the tournament is a 108.7km trek from Kota Kinabalu
to Tuaran before proceeding to Kota Belud, Tanjung Aru, Papar, Kundasang
and back to the state capital.
The entire journey is almost 700km.
