Ipoh school bids teary farewell to administrator
Gavdev of SM Main Convent in Jalan Sultan Idris Shah broke into tears and kissed students who gathered at the hall to give her parting gifts and garland her with flowers.
"I am going to miss them," sobbed Gavdev, a mother of three.
Students gave a memorable farewell for their maths and science teacher.
Gavdev thanked the headmistress, teachers, and the students for their co-operation during her time at the school and hoped that they would extend their co-operation to their new teacher.
Having taught for 33 years, Gavdev is not intending to be inactive after her retirement. She has plans to care for orphans and the elderly.
Although known for her no-nonsense approach in administering the school, Gavdev is well-loved by her students because of her care and concern for them.
Gavdev first started teaching at SM Methodist, Parit Buntar, in 1978 before moving to SM Tarcian Convent three years later and SM Dr Megat Khas in 2006.
Married to an accountant in 1981, Gavdev has three daughters.
One works in the IT field and the rest are doctors. -- By Kalavaani Karupiah
