KUALA LUMPUR: Two high-powered
motorcycle riders were killed and another seriously injured in an
accident on Km25 of the Karak Highway near here at 11am Sunday.
City Fire and Rescue Department Senior Assistant Superintendent Ahmad
Aidil Ab Majid said they received a call at 11.22am and a team arrived
at the scene five minutes later.
"We found two motorcyclists killed. One was burnt to death, trapped
under a motorcycle on fire. Another, who was found sprawled on the road
unconscious, died later. A third motorcyclist was seriously hurt," he
said.
Federal traffic chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Fuad Abdul Latiff
said the accident occurred when two of the motorcyclists stopped in the
centre lane as a lorry was blocking the road.
"Another motorcycle then hit the other two before catching fire, pinning one of the motorcyclists under the burning machine.
"Then, another motorcycle, believed to be riding at high speed,
grazed a Toyota Camry and a Toyota Vios, flinging the rider off his
machine before landing beneath a Honda City which had stopped in the
emergency lane to avoid the fire," he said.
The injured motorcyclist and the bodies of the victims were sent to the Selayang Hospital.
The accident caused a traffic jam stretching over 7km, reported Star Radio Traffic.
