When people taking shahadah automatically they become a Muslim. Shahadah means you declare yourself that you are worship only to the one God, Allah. I swear there is no God to worship except Allah and I swear Muhammad saw is His Messenger or I bear witness there is no God to worship except Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad saw is His Messenger.This is the first pillar in Islam. In Arabic words,
Once you make declaration of faith (recite the phrases) you are our brothers and sisters in Islam .The word Islam is referring to surrender, submission, obedience, sincerity and peace. A totally surrender, loyal and obedience to Allah who create the mankind with beautiful body and soul. Al Qur'an is the holy book (Kitab) which is relevance at all the times, to all the people and all eras.
Allah swt sent His Messenger Muhammad saw to guide people (ummah) from the darkness to the lights.The characteristic and history of life of Muhammad saw recorded completely in the holy Qur'an as the best person with highly morality (Khuluqin Azim) and the authentic role model for all people of the world(ummah).We sent Muhammad saw to be a Mercy for the world.The final Prophet saw teach us halal, prohibited/forbidden (Haram) or grey area for prosperity of life. The specific verse in Al Qur'an "Halalan Toyyiban".Allah teach us to choose the halal and good meals for our health betterment.
The complete rules and regulations stated in the noble Qur'an as a true guidance to those who are searching the right or straight path in their life.Praises only to God, Allah swt who sent us hidayah as a Muslim.Hidayah means Allah swt commanding our heart accepting the truth (belief- iman) .

No discrimination
Islam never discriminate between races and ethnics, skin colors because every people are same to The Creator, Allah.When we are performing our prayers (solah ) in five times a day (compulsory to the Muslim adults ) , we put our head on the ground which is means there is no difference between one and another, no matter who are rich or poor.We only worship to our maker, Allah.Islam is the true guidance to those who are closed to Allah and His Prophet Muhammad saw.Very Great Allah swt blessing people, who are sincerely prayers they will find a clear signs of "sujud" through their face that connected to solah.Subhanallah.
Islam teach scholars to show good moral and excellence attitude to all people whether they are Muslim or non Muslim at all the time.What ever we do must be the seek for Allah.Exhibiting the character as a true Muslim in all ways, may influencing people following the truth because Islam approaching us to be humble, phases arrogance and treat all people with proper manners.
