School facing water woes
BANTING: A boarding school here has been facing water disruptions for the past month.
SM Sains Banting principle Muhammad Kamaludin Taib said this was because of low water pressure as well as high usage during peak hours.
"We placed a request with the District Education Office for Syabas to provide us with more water but we have yet to receive a reply.
"We checked with surrounding community colleges as well as residents nearby and learned they, too, suffered the same problem.
"We also found out that one of our pumps was faulty, which may have contributed to the water shortage."
Kamaludin said he allowed all students to return home last weekend in a bid to reduce water usage as well as to get the pumps checked.
On the possibility of temporarily closing the school, he said it would be a last resort.
"It is still manageable but we will monitor the situation until the water supply is back to normal."
