Downpour causes flash flood in KL

KUALA LUMPUR: Torrential rain has reduced city traffic to a crawl and
flash floods were reported in several places, including the New Pantai
Expressway.
A PLUS Expressway Traffic Control Centre spokesman said traffic around Klang Valley almost came to a standstill due to poor visibility
"Traffic was slow after Sungai Besi toll heading towards the city centre due to the rain and the usual Friday traffic," he said.
The spokesman added traffic was also slow in Kota Damansara moving towards Dataran Prima and Subang Jaya.
Jalan Liku in Bangsar was inundated with flood waters but subsided within 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, a Fire and Rescue Department spokesman they cleared a fallen tree in Bestari Jaya, Selangor that occurred during heavy rain.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department in a statement had said heavy rain and thunderstorm were expected to continue around Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, Sepang and Hulu Langat district), Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya until this evening.
